Bloodhound

Restoration of the Bristol Bloodhound missile on display in the RAAF Museum's Technology Hangar provided new challenges for the Museum's Volunteers. As an expendable weapon, the structure of the Bloodhound was not designed to have an extended life span, and when combined with exotic alloys used to provide light weight and high performance, corrosion and related problems suffered by this missile over decades of storage required extensive and complex restoration. This project was largely completed by members of the Friends of the RAAF Museum, who are now working on the restoration of a Bloodhound missile reload trailer.
