RAAF Badge

Click to enlargeThe RAAF badge or crest features the Imperial Crown, a wedge-tailed eagle and the Latin motto 'Per Ardua Ad Astra'.
In 1937 the then Chester Herald, John Heaton-Armstrong, was commissioned to prepare a badge for the RAAF, which was accepted in 1939. Although no detailed record of the translation exists, it is accepted to mean:
