Fairbairn
Located in the nation's capital, it is natural that RAAF Base Fairbairn has been the site of many official visits and also houses the RAAF's VIP transport fleet. However, during World War II, the base also housed three squadrons from the Netherlands East Indies Air Force and RAAF transport units, and from the mid-1960s was the home of rotary-wing training for the Australian Defence Force. Fairbairn was sold by the RAAF in 2003, but continues to house No 34 Squadron.
