Service Profile: Eric Bradford

Eric J. Bradford (ACA 18578) began his World War 2 service as a member of aircrew in the Royal Australian Air Force in August 1943.

He trained as a pilot at No. 7 Elementary Flying Training School (EFTS) in Tasmania before being posted to Canada under the Empire Air Training Scheme (EATS) to gain his pilot's wings at No. 15 Service Flying Training School (SFTS) at Hagersville, Ontario.

During his training in Canada, Eric flew the North American Harvard Mark II and the Avro Anson Mark II.

On returning to Australia, Eric was trained as an Air Traffic Controller at No. 5 Flying Control Course, Laverton.

General demobilisation took charge of Eric's future and he was discharged, holding the rank of Flying Officer, in September 1945.

Eric subsequently joined the (then) Department of Civil Aviation and served as an air traffic controller during 1950–51 before returning to the Department of Main Roads in Hobart and commencing studies as an engineer.
