These profiles and stories were donated to the RAAF Museum by the Gold Coast Branch of the Air Crew Association.

Service Profile: Jim Forrest

Jim Forrest (ACA 9881) joined the Royal Air Force in 1940 and trained as a pilot at No. 4 Elementary Flying Training School (EFTS), No. 36 Service Flying Training School (SFTS) and No. 30 Operational Training Unit (OTU).

During his service, he flew Tiger Moths, Oxfords, Spitfires, Mosquitos, Proctors, Halifaxes, Hampdens, Flying Fortresses, Wellingtons, Warwicks and Lightnings.

Jim flew in operations in the UK, the European theatre and in North Africa.

When asked if he was awarded any decorations, Jim replied "Only those sent up with the rations".

Jim was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Squadron Leader, and served on the RAF Reserve until 1959.
