Service Profile: Keith Robson
David Keith Robson DFC was a member of the Royal Australian Air Force from December 1942 to February 1946.
Starting at No. 2 Air Observer School, Mount Gambier, SA, Keith continued his aircrew training at No. 3 Bombing and Gunnery School, West Sale, Victoria, followed by No. 1 Air Navigation School, Parkes, NSW.
Being posted to the United Kingdom for service in the European theatre of war, his training continued at No. 10 Advanced Flying Unit (AFU) Dumfries, No. 27 Operational Training Unit (OTU) Church Broughton, No. 1654 Conversion Unit (CU) Wigsley, and No. 5 Lancaster Flying School (LFS) Syerston.
Keith saw active service flying with No. 467 Squadron Waddington and No. 466 Squadron Driffield.
During his aircrew service he flew in Avro Ansons, Dakotas, Fairey Battles, Airspeed Oxfords, Wellingtons, Stirlings, Lancasters and Lincolns.
In recognition of his war service as a navigator, Keith was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
He was demobilised on 22 February 1946, holding the rank of Flight Lieutenant.
