A6 Avro Cadet

Developed from the Avro 626 Prefect that served with the RAF, 12 Cadet Mk IIa were ordered in 1934, followed by another 22 delivered during 1938 and 1939. Of the 32 planes in service at the outbreak of World War II, four were lost in accidents through to 1945, while the remainder had been sold to civilian operators or reduced to components.

Fully aerobatic and fitted with a fuel system that permitted prolonged inverted flight, the Cadet was a favourite performer at airshows, even embarking on a spectacular display when the aircraft in formation were tied together with cable.
