Schofields
Originally constructed to act as a shore base for Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm units, Schofields was handed over to the RAAF in 1942. Following World War II, the base housed RAAF transport and fighter units, which by 1953 had all moved to the larger bases at Richmond and Williamtown. In 1953, the base was handed over to the Royal Australian Navy and, as HMAS Nirimba, housed Naval Technical Training until 1993.
