Strauss
Another important fighter base in the defence of Darwin, Strauss was home to RAAF, US Army Air Force and Royal Air Force squadrons between 1942 and 1945. In November 1942, enemy raids on the airfield caused minor damage, but fortunately no personnel were killed.
