Tamworth
One of many bases in New South Wales used to support training for the Empire Air Training Scheme during World War II, Tamworth had a variety of training units pass through the base. With the end of the war, the airfield reverted to a civilian field, but in the early 1990s, BAE Systems opened a flying training facility to provide basic training for the Australian Army and then, in 1999, all three services of the Australian Defence Force.
