Combat Support Unit- Amberley

Role

  • CSU-AMB coordinates and manages base-wide support activities, primarily to enable air operations at Amberley.
  • CO CSU-AMB/BCDR AMB has specific responsibility for the coordination and management of base physical security, emergency response, base-wide OH&S, environmental and safety management, and public relations. The Base Commanderis the central point of contact and primary source of advice regarding service standards and customer feedback across the full range of services provided by service provider groups and other entities. The BCDR is primary point of contact for community relations, and is responsible for the management of base welfare organisations, and coordination and provision of support to operations, exercises and visits.

What work is undertaken

  • CSU-AMB operates a Public Relations Cell which is responsible for all matters associated with interaction with local on base and off base media representatives. The Operations Cell maintains visibility into all aircraft operations in and out of RAAF Base Amberley, this includes approval requirements for visiting aircraft both from within Australia and from overseas. The Visits and Protocol Cell is responsible for the organisation and management of all visits to RAAF Base Amberley. In addition to these activities, chaplaincy services, Base Business Manager, Warrant Officer Disciplinary and Base Armament Adviser provide the Base Commander with specialist advice in the day to day functioning of RAAF Amberley.
