RAAF Base Glenbrook is located in the foothills of the NSW Blue Mountains, north-west of Sydney.
It is home to Air Command, whose mission is to raise, train and sustain Air Force's air and space power to meet Government objectives.
The Officers Mess (an area where military personnel socialise and eat) at the base is actually the old Lapstone Hotel, built in the 1930's. It has been restored and the interior re-modelled, though only slightly due to its historical status, while the outside remains unaltered.
Aircraft Noise
Air Force has an honest and open approach to aircraft noise that may affect neighbours of our bases and training areas.
Our pilots and crews operate their aircraft in a way that minimises aircraft noise, and we freely distribute information about aircraft noise, such as Australian Noise Exposure Forecast (ANEF) maps.
For more information, visit the Defence Aircraft Noise website or call 1300 DEFENCE (1300 333 362).
