The MC-55A Peregrine is a first-of-type, airborne intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and electronic warfare (ISREW) aircraft for the Australian Defence Force.
Modelled from the Gulfstream G550 airframe modified by L3Harris Technologies, the MC-55A is a long-range, persistent ISREW platform able to deliver multi-intelligence effects.
The first MC-55A aircraft was delivered to Australia in January 2026 and is operated by RAAF’s Number 10 Squadron, based at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia.
The MC-55A will integrate seamlessly into the broader ISR enterprise at RAAF Base Edinburgh, complementing platforms such as the P-8A Poseidon and MQ-4C Triton, and forming a link in Australia’s sovereign network of surveillance and electronic warfare assets. The MC-55A enhances ADF capability by delivering critical intelligence in support of operations and strengthening Australia’s ability to monitor its strategic area of interest, including key maritime approaches.
The MC-55A Peregrine will also enable integration with allied and partner systems, allowing the ADF to share intelligence with security partners like the United Kingdom and United States, reinforcing collective security.
The MC-55A mission crew consists of both air and ground elements, leveraging satellite communication to enhance mission flexibility. MC-55A facilities are located at RAAF Base Edinburgh and at forward operating locations in Darwin and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
