As you would be aware the Australian Government, like other governments around the world, is having to adjust a range of plans and commitments as we work to contribute to the whole of government response to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus). To that end we have taken the decision to temporarily close our Air Force Heritage centres as of 15 Mar 2020. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Aviation Heritage centres

Air Force has a proud heritage. Established in 1921, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) is the second-oldest independent air force in the world.

Our regional Heritage Centre displays are designed to professionally display aircraft and exhibits that highlight the history of the Air Force, and celebrate links between the base and the local community.

Heritage centres contain an exciting collection of artefacts, such as:

  • retired aircraft
  • uniforms
  • vehicles
  • photographic displays
  • ground equipment, and
  • personal records.

RAAF Heritage Centres are managed by a committee of Air Force and community members. They are staffed by volunteers from the local community, some of whom are current or retired Air Force members.
