FLTLT DANIEL BARCLAY

Flight Lieutenant Daniel Barclay grew up in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. He began flying ultralights at the age of 14 out of Caloundra Airport, where he first developed a passion for flying.  He joined the Air Force in 2005 as a pilot and attended the Australian Defence Force Academy, studying a Bachelor of Technology and Aviation. He completed pilot training in 2008 on the Pilatus PC-9A aircraft as part of 213 Pilots Course. Following his pilot graduation, Daniel completed Flying Instructors Course and instructed on the Pilatus PC-9A at No. 2 Flying Training School for three years as a Qualified Flying Instructor. Daniel was one of the youngest Flying Instructor in the RAAF and was instructing at the age of 22.
 
Daniel went on to fly the AP-3C Orion Maritime Patrol Aircraft for five years out of Edinburgh, SA. During his time on AP-C3 Orions, he was involved with various exercises and operations within Australia and abroad.
 
In 2018 Daniel was posted to Central Flying School in Sale, Victoria, where he taught flying instruction before joining the Roulettes in 2019. Daniel has previously been Roulette 3 and 6 and this is his 1st season as Roulette Five. Daniel has over 4,500 military flying hours.
 
Away from work Daniel enjoys outdoor living; spending time with his family, surfing, snowboarding and fishing.
