FLIGHT LIEUTENANT LACHIE HAZELDINE
Flight Lieutenant Lachie Hazeldine, 33, grew up in Korumburra, Victoria and joined the RAAF in 2001 completing a degree in Aviation Technology at the Australian Defence Force Academy. In 2003 he joined No. 199 Pilots Course. Upon graduation in 2004 Lachie flew the AP3C Orion. Whilst at 11 SQN he was involved in numerous operations and exercises both within Australia and overseas.
Lachie qualified as a flying instructor in 2010 and was posted to Pearce in Western Australia to instruct at No. 2 Flying Training School. After two years instructing trainees he was posted to Central Flying School where he spent 12 months instructing military flying instructors. Lachie subsequently joined the Roulettes and flew 5 seasons as Roulette 3, 6 and 5.
In 2017 Lachie was posted to the PC-21 transition office where he was involved in the initial introduction of the PC-21, which included PC-21 conversion training with Pilatus in Switzerland. Lachie has recently returned to CFS and has again been selected to join the Roulettes. With over 4800 hours military flying experience, Lachie is performing his sixth season with the Roulettes and his third season as Roulette 5.
Lachie’s interests outside of work include enjoying the outdoors and camping around the Gippsland area with his family, and occasional motorsport events.
