Army helicopters rehearse for Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust

On 1 September, helicopters from the Army Aviation Training Centre in Oakey will conduct low-level rehearsal flypasts along the Brisbane River in the CBD in preparation for this year’s Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust on 3 September.

Information on the Army’s ARH Tiger armed reconnaissance helicopter and the MRH90 Taipan tactical troop transport helicopter is available on Army's website.

All flying is subject to change due to weather and operational requirements.

Safety, noise management and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of Defence flying activities, and participating squadrons will operate with a view to minimising the impact on local communities.

The health and safety of all personnel participating in this event is paramount. The public should not be alarmed if they see or hear military aircraft flying low over inner city suburbs.

Prior to low-level flying along the Brisbane River and around the CBD, the helicopters in the Army’s display team will wait in a holding pattern over Indooroopilly Golf Course and two helicopters will hold above Victoria Park Golf Course while the rehearsal is taking place.

Spectators are reminded that drone flying is prohibited at the Brisbane Festival because of the dangers these pose to low-flying aircraft.
