F-35A Lightning II low level approach training into Tamworth, New South Wales

Up to four Royal Australian Air Force F-35A Lightning II aircraft from No. 2 Operational Conversion Unit will conduct instrument approach training into Tamworth Regional Airport, as a part of routine operational conversion training.

The aircraft will conduct instrument approaches into Tamworth Regional Airport after which they will depart for No. 2 Operational Conversion Unit’s current operating location at RAAF Base Amberley, Queensland.

Instrument approaches are an essential part of flying training giving pilots experience in landing at different airfields in all weather conditions.

All low level flying activities are conducted within strict safety and operational guidelines.

Flying is subject to change due to variables such as air traffic control requirements, weather, and other aviation considerations.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying.
