Local residents living near Mount Panorama, near Bathurst, are advised a single F-35A Lightning II aircraft will pass over the area on Thursday 29 September between 2pm and 3pm as part of a trial run in preparation for the Bathurst 1000 motor race.
The Australian Defence Force supports the Bathurst 1000 with a fast jet display planned for Sunday 9 October.
Residents are advised all low level flying activities are conducted within strict safety and operational guidelines, and the passes are part of the pilot’s planning for the display.
Flying is subject to change, including short notice cancellation, due to variables such as air traffic control requirements, weather, and operational availability.
Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying.
