Townsville will be hosting the Royal Australian Air Force, Australian Army, civilian agencies and international participants from the United States of America in the largest Air Force led field training exercise in Australia for 2016.
The exercise will focus on the tactical execution of Joint Personnel Recovery and Search and Rescue (SAR) operations.
The exercise will be conducted over a two week period from 28 June until 07 July and will involve day flying from fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. There is no planned weekend or night flying during this exercise.
Noise management and environmental impacts are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying.
Air Force appreciates the support it receives from the Townsville community during this exercise.
Information on aircraft noise and current flying activities is available at www.defence.gov.au/aircraftnoise or by calling 1300 DEFENCE (1300 333 362) and asking to be connected to Royal Australian Air Force Base Townsville.
