Mother and babies doing fine - Military Working Dog ‘Abba’ gives birth to six puppies

Military Working Dog (MWD) ‘Abba’ delivered a litter of six puppies at RAAF School of Fire and Security (RAAFSFS) on 11 May.

Mr Stephen Cannon, Breeding Manager of RAAFSFS said the caesarean birth made Belgian Malinois Abba a mother to one male and five female puppies.

“Abba was an absolute champion and we are pleased to announce that mum and pups are all healthy,” Mr Canon said.

“Our other brood dog ‘Xola’, who recently gave birth to two puppies on 1 May, kindly stepped in to help Abba to feed her new puppies.

“We do have some of the best mums around.”

At eight-weeks of age, these MWD puppies will go out to civilian homes for weekend homestay as part of the RAAF MWD Puppy Foster Program; anyone in in South East Queensland area may apply.
