Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Pilatus PC-21 aircraft from No. 2 Flying Training School will conduct flying training operations from RAAF Base Learmonth throughout March as part of Exercise Capricorn Sunset.
A detachment of up to eight PC-21 aircraft and approximately 40 Australian Defence Force (ADF) and support personnel will conduct a higher-than-normal tempo of operations from RAAF Base Learmonth during this period.
Operating from airfields such as RAAF Base Learmonth is essential for No. 2 Flying Training School to fulfil its mission of training pilots to the highest possible standard for future employment on operational ADF aircraft.
Flying schedules are subject to change due to variables such as air traffic control requirements, weather and other aviation considerations.
Safety, noise management and environmental factors are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of Defence flying activities. Participating aircraft will operate with a view to minimising the impact on the local communities.
