Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Pilatus PC-21 aircraft from No. 2 Flying Training School will be conducting flying training operations from RAAF Base Learmonth throughout June and July as part of Exercise Capricorn Sunset.

The detachment of up to six PC-21 aircraft, and about 40 Australian Defence Force (ADF) and support personnel, will be conducting a higher than normal tempo of operations.

Operating from airfields such as RAAF Base Learmonth is essential for No. 2 Flying Training School to train pilots to the highest possible standard and enable their future employment on operational ADF aircraft.

Media note

A flying instructor from No. 2 Flying Training School is available for interview upon request.

Flying is subject to change due to variables such as air traffic control requirements, weather and other aviation considerations.

Safety, noise management and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of Defence flying activities. Participating aircraft will operate with a view to minimising the impact on the local communities.

Information regarding aircraft noise is at https://www.defence.gov.au/aircraftnoise/, or by calling 1800 DEFENCE (1800 3333623).

Information about the Pilatus PC-21 aircraft is available at Pilatus PC-21 | Air Force
