Members of the public may notice an increased presence of emergency services vehicles, first responders, and emergency personnel in or near the base during the exercise.

This is a routine and scheduled training activity. There is no threat to public safety and no actual aircraft emergency.

Defence appreciates the community's understanding and cooperation while this important training activity is conducted.

Media Note

Media are asked to assist in informing local residents of the increased presence of emergency services in the area.

Interviews are not available for this activity.

Simulated emergency response exercises are a critical component of Defence's emergency preparedness program. This exercise will provide an opportunity for military personnel and civilian emergency services to practise coordinated responses to a simulated aircraft incident in a controlled environment.

The exercise ensures emergency responders can effectively:

  • Test emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Strengthen coordination between Defence and external emergency service agencies.
  • Validate communication systems and command arrangements.
  • Maintain readiness to respond safely and effectively to a real-world aircraft emergency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve emergency management capabilities.

These exercises are conducted regularly to ensure Defence personnel and partner agencies remain trained, prepared and capable of protecting lives and responding quickly in the event of an actual emergency.
