Air Force in partnership with the City of Newcastle and Port Stephens Council proudly presents the Newcastle Williamtown Air Show 2023 (NWAS23) over the weekend of Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 November 2023.

Whether you're a die-hard aviation enthusiast, a family seeking memorable days out, or someone curious about the world of flight, the NWAS23 promises an unforgettable weekend of excitement, education and inspiration.

Saturday 18 November – Flying display in Newcastle (free event)

Hosted by the City of Newcastle, Saturday is a non-ticketed free community event featuring flying displays by Air Force aircraft over the water at Newcastle’s Nobby’s Beach and the Hunter River Foreshore Park.

There are two flying sessions, which are a similar format and where feasible will feature the same aircraft:

  • 10am – 12.30pm and
  • 1.30pm – 4pm

Sunday 19 November – RAAF Base Williamtown Open Day (ticketed event)

The RAAF Base Williamtown gates will open for a ticketed, non-flying open day featuring ground displays and a range of military capabilities from across the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the aviation sector.  The Sunday Open Day is ticketed for traffic, transport and parking considerations.

Tickets are on sale via the Ticketmaster website at a cost of $10 per/person. Children 6 years and under are free and no ticket purchase is required.

Gates open at 9am, with the event concluding at 4pm.

Traffic changes around RAAF Base Williamtown

Leading up-to and over the weekend of 18 and 19 November there will be significant road closures, changed traffic conditions and an increase in the volume of traffic. It is highly recommended that you plan your journey and allow additional time for transiting around the Newcastle and Port Stephens areas. Your patience is appreciated and all efforts are being made to minimise impacts to the community.
