2FTS flying training at RAAF Learmonth

Operation Details Tab

A Royal Australian Air Force Number 2 Flying Training School (2FTS) detachment will conduct flying training operations in Pilatus PC-21 Aircraft.
DATE: Friday 31 July to Saturday 15 August
VENUE: RAAF Base Learmonth, WA
The detachment will include up to six aircraft and 40 Defence and support personnel.
Locals can expect to see increased flying activity in the area. Formations of up to four aircraft may be seen in the vicinity of the airport and near the city centre as they depart and position for return to the airfield.
The majority of flight training operations will be conducted above 5,000 feet and away from built up areas to minimise any impact to the local community.
2FTS trains pilots to the highest standard on the Pilatus PC-21 aircraft to go on to operational conversion on selected Defence aircraft types after graduation.
2FTS also develops qualified flying instructors for future employment at Defence operational conversion units and operational flying squadrons.
