Australia Day 2021 Flypasts

Royal Australian Air Force aircraft will conduct flypasts in various states and territories in support of Australia Day celebrations. 



DATE:           26th January 2021

TIME:            9.29am

AIRCRAFT:  A C-130J Hercules aircraft from Number 37 Squadron based at RAAF Base Richmond

LOCATION:  Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra. The aircraft will fly overhead Parliament House towards Russell Offices before circling to the east and then flying over the lake from east to west.



DATE:           26th January 2021 

TIME:            12.02pm 

AIRCRAFT:   Up to 2 F-35A Lightning II aircraft from Number 3 Squadron based at RAAF Base Williamtown 

LOCATION:  Sydney Harbour, NSW

 TIME:            11.30am – 12.10pm (see location details below)

 AIRCRAFT:  Up to two F/A-18A/B Hornet aircraft from Number 75 Squadron based at RAAF Base Tindal


11.30am - Katherine

GYRAAC Amphitheatre, 3238 Stuart Highway, Katherine East

12.05pm - Darwin

Darwin City, with vantage points at the Darwin Bicentennial Park and Darwin Cenotaph.

12.10pm - Palmerston

Palmerston Recreation Centre, 11 The Boulevard

LOCATION: Shrine of Remembrance, Birdwood Avenue, Melbourne

AIRCRAFT: The Air Force aerobatic team, the Roulettes, will provide a display over Melbourne with up to six Pilatus PC-21 aircraft from the Central Flying School at RAAF Base East Sale.



DATE:           26th January 2021

TIME:            8:15am

AIRCRAFT:  A Pilatus PC-21 aircraft from Number 2 Flying Training School at RAAF Base Pearce will take part in the flypast.

Australia Day is held annually on January 26th to reflect on our nation’s past and celebrate the Australian spirit, mateship and sense of community. The Royal Australian Air Force is proud to participate in Australia Day 2021 events in a special year for our service as we mark our 100th anniversary and would encourage anyone attending to adhere to local state COVID-19 social distancing advice.



Flying is subject to variables including air traffic control requirements, weather, and operational availability. As such, flypasts and displays may be subject to cancellation at short notice.
