Residents in the Riverina region of New South Wales may notice a Royal Australian Air Force C-130J Hercules aircraft conducting low-flying in the area on 23 September.
DATE: Wednesday, 23 September 2020
TIME: Between 10.00am and 11.30am
LOCATION: East of Wagga Wagga, down to an altitude of 75 metres
As part of this training, the aircraft will have the opportunity to conduct a flypast of RAAF Base Wagga, coinciding with a graduation parade for No. 1 Recruit Training Unit. The crew do not plan to fly at low-level over towns or other built-up areas.
Low-level flying and navigation is an important skill for Air Force Hercules crews, ensuring they are prepared to conduct a range of missions including airdrop and search and rescue.
While these skills can be rehearsed inside a simulator, low-level flying training in a real aircraft allows crews to build experience with mission planning and decision-making in a live environment.
Please note that this training may be subject to cancellation at short-notice due to variables including operational availability of aircraft, and weather.
