Up to 2 F-35A Joint Strike Fighter aircraft will conduct night flying training into RAAF Base Richmond during the periods Monday 1 April to Thursday 4 April, and Monday 8 April to Thursday 11 April 2019. Flying is anticipated to occur between around 6pm and 9pm.
The activity is being conducted by No. 3 Squadron, which is the RAAF’s first F-35A Squadron. The F-35A will conduct circuit training including ‘touch-and-go’ landings and instrument landing approaches as part of pilot familiarisation.
The ability to fly to and from alternate airfields in all weather conditions, by day and night, is essential to F-35A operations.
Residents should note that the date and time for this activity are subject to variables including weather and operational availability, and may change.
Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military activity, and Air Force appreciates the ongoing support of the Hawkesbury community during these training activities.
