Residents of Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens will be able to gain a sneak preview of the F/A-18A/B Hornet display for the Coates Hire Newcastle 500 – Supercars on Monday 19 November at approximately 10.30am to 11am.
The display pilot Flight Lieutenant Matt Trayling from RAAF Base Williamtown will utilise the display training area airspace north of Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens to conduct the activity off the coast.
Residents are advised an excellent viewing platform would be along Mungo Brush Road between Piper’s Creek fire trail and Lloyd’s camp ground.
As one of the Air Force’s fleet of fastjet aircraft, the Hornet can reach speeds of more than 1000km/hr.
The Hornet will conduct an aerial handling display in support of the Coates Hire Newcastle 500-Supercars on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 November 2018 at approximately 3pm over the Harbour precinct and Nobby’s Beach.
