The Royal Australian Air Force will farewell Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin AC, former Chief of the Australian Defence Force, with a six-ship F/A-18A/B Hornet flypast over Defence Establishment Fairbairn, Canberra on Thursday, 23 August 2018 at approximately 4.30pm.
The six F/A-18 A/B aircraft from No. 2 Operational Conversion Unit, based at RAAF Base Williamtown, will conduct a single level formation flypast and bomb-burst over Fairbairn approaching from the south west and departing to the north east.
The aircraft will approach Canberra from the north and hold between 22km and 30km east-south-east of Canberra. The six aircraft will approach heading west, and turn north over Tuggeranong, Fyshwick and Canberra Airport. The aircraft will not hold over Mt Stromlo as previously advised.
The F/A-18A/B aircraft conducting the flypast will fly at speeds up to 930 kilometres per hour and no lower than 75 meters above ground level.
All flying is subject to change due to weather and operational requirements.
