A funeral service will be held at RAAF Base Point Cook for Air Vice-Marshal Reed at 11:00am on Thursday 19 August 2021.
Air Vice-Marshal Reed was a former Royal Australian Air Force Air Officer Commanding Support Command and Air Officer Commanding Logistic Command.
His career spanned over 37 Years, including operational service in Vietnam, where he completed over 100 operational missions flying the RF4C Phantom on exchange with the US Air Force. He was also awarded the Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air, the US Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, and was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for his service as Air Officer Commanding Support Command.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, funeral attendance will be limited to family, close friends and invited guests. The funeral service will be live streamed via this link.
The funeral will be supported by a 100SQN CAC Winjeel and a T6 Harvard at 11:00am conducting a flypast from East - West over the RAAF Base Point Cook Chapel, followed by a second flypast from South to North, with a single aircraft gentling breaking away overhead the chapel.

Flying is subject to change due to variables such as air traffic control requirements, weather, and other aviation considerations.

This flying activity is part of regular training. Flights and timings are changeable to best meet training objectives, they are not a scheduled flypast. This notice is to advise the local community in this area that they may hear some noise. We remind the community that everyone must observe all COVID-19 related health measures in their respective local government areas, including stay at home orders where they are in force.
