Hawk diversion training to RAAF Base Richmond

Operation Details Tab

Details
Up to 12 Hawk Lead-In-Fighter aircraft will conduct diversion training into RAAF Base Richmond on Tuesday 17 July and Wednesday 18 July 2018.  The aircraft will be operating at low level in the vicinity of the base between the hours of approximately 9:30am – 11am, 12:15pm – 1:45pm and 3pm – 4:15pm on Tuesday, and between the hours of approximately 9:30am – 11am on Wednesday.

The Hawk Lead-In-Fighter aircraft will be carrying out instrument landing approach training and familiarisation operations.  An Instrument Landing System (ILS) approach assists pilots to land at night or in poor weather conditions. The ability to land at alternate airfields is an essential part of pilot training on fast-jet aircraft.

Residents should note that the date and time for this activity are subject to variables including weather and operational availability, and may change.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military activity, and Air Force appreciates the ongoing support of the community during these training activities.
