Hornet and Roulettes to support Skyfire

Operation Details Tab

Aircraft from the Royal Australian Air Force will conduct flypasts and aerial displays over Canberra on Saturday, March 17 in support of Skyfire celebrations.

A single F/A-18A/B Hornet aircraft from Number 2 Operational Conversion Unit Squadron, based out of RAAF Base Williamtown, will arrive over Lake Burley Griffin from the west at approximately 6.55pm and carry out an aerial handling display over the lake before making a vertical departure.  The aircraft will fly at speeds up to 1000 km/hr and at heights no lower than 75m above ground level.

In addition, the Roulettes – RAAF’s aerobatic display team based at RAAF Base East Sale – will perform their air display in six Pilatus PC-9A aircraft at 6.12pm. Throughout the display each pilot will maintain their aircraft only three metres from each other while conducting aerobatics and flypasts down to 75m above the ground at speeds up to 550km/hr.

All flying is subject to change due to weather and operational requirements.
