The Royal Australian Air Force will fly over Melbourne and Geelong on Friday 22 February to prepare for the Avalon International Airshow.
10.00 to 10.45am: One C130J Hercules and one F/A-18A/B Hornet – departing Avalon Airport and joining with the Hornet, which will fly via Port Phillip Bay to Melbourne CBD, arriving around 10.15am to conduct a lap of the city at a height of 600 meters.
12.20 to 12.40pm: One C-17A Globemaster and two F/A-18A/B Hornets – departing Avalon Airport to fly coastal along Port Phillip Bay passing over Geelong (12.22pm), Port Arlington (12.25pm), Werribee South (12.26pm), Altona (12.28pm), then overhead Melbourne CBD – for Flinders Street and MCG (12.31pm), St Kilda Beach (12.32pm), and Rickets Point (12.34pm). Aircraft will be at altitude of 90 meters for the coastal leg then at 450 meters over the city.
All flying is subject to change due to weather and operational requirements.
