A detachment from Air Force’s No. 2 Flying Training School (2FTS) will deploy to RAAF Base Learmonth to conduct flying training operations for EXERCISE CAPRICORN SUNSET from 26 August to 10 September 2022. Up to eight Pilatus PC-21 aircraft, and approximately 55 Australian Defence Force (ADF) and support personnel, will be conducting operations from RAAF Base Learmonth during this period.
 
DATE:        26 August to 10 September 2022
 
VENUE:     RAAF Base Learmonth, and the surrounding Exmouth region.
 
Formations of up to four aircraft may be seen in the vicinity of the airport and near the city centre.
 
Residents should note that flying is subject to change, including short notice cancellation due to variables such as air traffic control requirements, weather, and other aviation considerations.
 
Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying. Aircrew will aim to operate in a manner that minimises noise and disruption to the community when flying near residential areas.
