No. 2 Flying Training School to conduct flying training at RAAF Base Learmonth

A detachment from Air Force’s No. 2 Flying Training School (2FTS) will deploy to RAAF Base Learmonth to conduct flight training operations for Exercise CAPRICORN SUNSET from 5 to 21 November, 2021. Up to seven Pilatus PC-21 aircraft, and approximately 40 Australian Defence Force (ADF) and support personnel, will be conducting operations from RAAF Base Learmonth during this period.
DATE:                5 to 21 November, 2021
VENUE:             RAAF Base Learmonth, and the surrounding Exmouth region.
                          Formations of up to four aircraft may be seen in the vicinity of the airport and near the city centre.
Residents should note that flying activity is subject to change, including short notice cancellation, due to operational requirements, weather, air traffic and other aviation considerations.
Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military activities, and Air Force appreciates the ongoing support of the Exmouth community during these activities.
Defence is adhering to the state and territory health guidelines and restrictions, and is committed to being an exemplar of COVID-Safe behaviour. Exercises remain critical to preparedness of the Australian Defence Force, and the health and safety of all personnel involved, as well as members of the community, is the highest priority.

This flying activity is part of regular training. Flights and timings are changeable to best meet training objectives, they are not a scheduled flypast. This notice is to advise the local community in this area that they may hear some noise. We remind the community that everyone must observe all COVID-19 related health measures in their respective local government areas, including stay at home orders where they are in force.
