RAAF Super Hornet to conduct divert to Cairns International Airport

The Royal Australian Air Force would like to advise the Cairns community they may see an F/A-18F Super Hornet from 1SQN flying in the region between 2.20pm – 3.30pm on Thursday 8 October 2020.
 
1SQN is currently operating the Super Hornets in Townsville until 16 October 2020 participating in Exercise Nigrum Pugio, an ADF Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) requalification activity held at the Townsville Field Training Area.  
 
As part of the training, a single Super Hornet will divert to the Cairns Airport. This diversion is an essential part of pilot training on fast-jet aircraft as it assists pilots in landing at different airfields in all weather conditions.
