Operation Details Tab

The flypast will occur at 4:50pm during the Opening Ceremony.

People attending the show will be able to view the Globemaster Flypast from the grandstand on the showgrounds. The aircraft will flypast in a south-to- north direction as low as 150 metres.

RAAF Amberley, west of Ipswich, is the home base for the Royal Australian Air Force’s fleet of eight Globemasters.

Operated by No. 36 Squadron, the Globemaster is a mainstay of the air mobility force and has been in service since 2006.

The Globemaster is used by the Air Force as a strategic airlifter. The aircraft is able to carry a payload of more than 70 tonnes but can also conduct tactical airlift missions, including airdrop of cargo by parachute.

Recently, the Globemaster has been called on to provide humanitarian assistance missions to Tonga after Tropical Cyclone Gita earlier in the year. They are frequently supporting Australian forces deployed around the globe.

The Air Force appreciates the support it receives from the residents of Ipswich and South East Queensland regions and is proud to support this significant event.

This event maybe cancelled at short notice due to operational requirements, weather or air traffic.
