Operation Details Tab

Details
A single F/A-18A/B Hornet from No. 2 Operation Conversion Unit will conduct diversion training into RAAF Base Richmond on Monday 5 August, and Tuesday 6 August between 6.20pm and 6.50pm.

A spare day has been scheduled for Wednesday 7 August if required.

The aircraft will conduct instrument approaches and ‘touch and go’ landings as part of the final phase of fighter training for aircrew.

Instrument Landing System approach training is an essential part of pilot training on fast-jet aircraft as it assists pilots to land at different airfields in all weather conditions.

Residents should note that the date and time for this activity are subject to variables including weather and operational availability, and may change. We request that local residents do not call RAAF Base Richmond directly for updated timings.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military activity, and Air Force appreciates the ongoing support of the Hawkesbury community during these training activities.
