Every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 1pm there are interactive flying displays, where you can see the aircraft in flight and learn all about the process of flying. You may even be treated to a surprise aerobatic display!
This program enables visitors to see, hear and smell what flying is all about. Best of all, it is absolutely free! Bookings are not required.
The Interactive Flying Displays feature a heritage aircraft in flight and may include an aerobatic display. Regular aircraft featured include the Winjeel, Harvard, CT4A, Sopwith Pup replica and Tiger Moth. Visiting aircraft, such as the DC3, Bird Dog or even a modern PC-9 are sometimes featured.
Old and young alike have fallen in love with this program that runs for most of the year (Christmas and New Year period excluded).
Come along and see what's flying! You will be able to ask questions of the pilot and hear his radio calls during flight. The program is ideal for families and children's groups.
If the weather is poor, the pilot will give a talk and answer questions inside the Museum instead of doing the flying display. This may occur without notice.
RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre Public Open Day
Join us from 9am to 3pm on the third Sunday of each month (except December, January and Public Holidays) for a day of RAAF and South-East Queensland Aviation History! There is no entry charge, though donations are welcome. Stay tuned for updates about special visiting guests and displays.
Opened in June 2011, the Heritage Centre has a range of displays, including a World War II Boston Bomber, a Vietnam-era Canberra bomber, Caribou airlifter, Spitfire, Sabre and Mirage fighter jets, F-111s, a Pilatus Porter, Macchi, Sioux and Iroquois helicopters, and even an immaculate WWII Jeep.
Download your visitor application, and bring this with you (one per vehicle) along with photo ID of all vehicle occupants to minimise delays in access through the gate.
