Fenton

Historical photo of the base

Constructed by the US Army, Fenton was primarily used as a base for heavy bomber operations by units of the US Army Air Force (USAAF) and, from September 1944, RAAF Liberator bombers. With the withdrawal of Japanese forces in 1945, most units moved to more northern bases, and operations at the base ceased before the end of World War II.
