Ross River

Historical photo of the base

Another dispersal field for Townsville, Ross River opened in early 1942, and soon saw a variety of RAAF units based at the field through the course of World War II, including Nos 7, 82, 84 and 86 Squadrons, in addition to No 14 Repair and Salvage Unit. Following the end of the war, the airfield was not required by the Civil Aviation Authority.
