Australian Defence Force flying displays for Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust

The Australian Defence Force will feature in a number of flying displays in this year’s Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust on 3 September.

Information on the F/A-18F Super Hornet is available on our Aircraft page.

Information on the Army’s ARH and MRH90 helicopters is available on Army's website.

All flying is subject to change due to weather and operational requirements.

Safety, noise management and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of Defence flying activities, and participating squadrons will operate with a view to minimising the impact on local communities.

Fast, high-powered passes by military jets create significant noise and the public should not be alarmed if they see or hear military aircraft flying low over inner city suburbs.

Prior to low-level flying along the Brisbane River and around the CBD, the helicopters in the Army’s display team will wait in a holding pattern over Indooroopilly Golf Course for 10 minutes at 5.15pm. During the display, two helicopters will hold above Victoria Park Golf Course between 5.35pm and 5.42pm.

The health and safety of all personnel participating in this event is paramount. All Australian Defence Force personnel are adhering to current Queensland Health advice in respect to COVID-19.

Spectators are reminded that drone flying is prohibited at the Brisbane Festival because of the dangers this poses to low-flying aircraft.
