Up to eight Royal Australian Air Force F-35A Lightning II aircraftfrom No. 81 Wing will conduct training at RAAF Base Townsville, Queensland from 11 to 29 July 2022. Normally operating from RAAF Base Williamtown, New South Wales the aircraft are conducting essential operational training at other locations while Newcastle Airport undergoes significant runway works.
Flying is subject to change, including short notice cancellation due to variables such as air traffic control requirements, weather, and other aviation considerations.
Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying. Aircrew will aim to operate in a manner that minimises noise and disruption to the community when flying near residential areas.
