Up to six Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) F-35A Lightning II aircraft will conduct training operations into RAAF Base Richmond.
This training activity will involve aircraft departing their home base at RAAF Base Williamtown and landing at RAAF Base Richmond. The aircraft will then refuel before returning to their home base.
RAAF pilots frequently conduct training into RAAF Base Richmond to ensure that they can safely fly in western Sydney airspace and land at another Defence airfield if required.
The activity will also ensure that aviators at RAAF Base Richmond are familiar with supporting F-35A operations.
This training will be conducted on weekdays only. Flying activity is subject to change, including short-notice cancellation due to variables such as air traffic control requirements, weather, and operational availability.
Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying.
Further information about the F-35A Lightning II can be found on our Aircraft page.
