Republic of Korea Air Force ‘Black Eagles' and RAAF Roulettes conduct friendship flight

The Republic of Korea Air Force aerobatics team the ‘Black Eagles’ and the Royal Australian Air Force aerobatics team, the Roulettes, will conduct a friendship flight around the Great Ocean Road and Melbourne CBD on Monday, 27 February 2023.

The Black Eagles are currently visiting Australia to participate in the Australian International Airshow 2023.

These two impressive aviation teams will share the skies over Victoria, ahead of the Australian International Airshow public show later in the week.

The teams will conduct low level flying in formation from Avalon to Portarlington, travelling westbound along the Bass Coast continuing to Port Campbell where they will turn around, fly to Port Phillip Heads, and finally fly over Melbourne CBD before returning to Avalon.

The formation flight will include up to six Pilatus PC-21 aircraft from Air Force’s Central Flying School, located at RAAF Base East Sale, Victoria and up to nine T-50B aircraft from the Republic of Korea Air Force.

Timing is approximate and flying is subject to variables including air traffic control requirements, weather, and operational availability. As such, flypasts and displays may be subject to cancellation at short notice.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying.

Vision and imagery of this activity will be available at the conclusion of the event.
