Flying activity for Exercise Crimson Dawn 23-2

Increased flying activity with up to five F/A-18F Super Hornets participating in Exercise Crimson Dawn 23-2.

The RAAF’s next generation of F/A-18F Super Hornet Fast Jet Pilots and Weapons Systems Operators will conduct Exercise Crimson Dawn 23-2 from RAAF Base Tindal.

In Northern Territory skies, they’ll apply the skills they’ve learned over eight months of training to operate the Super Hornet.

Exercise Crimson Dawn 23-2 will involve day and night-time missions to nearby Delamere Air Weapons Range, with air combat aircrew conducting mission planning and flying complex serials as a team, overcoming threats to reach their target, and safely return home.

On completion of Exercise Crimson Dawn 23-2, graduating aircrew will return to RAAF Base Amberley where they will join No 1 Squadron.

Flying is subject to variables including air traffic control requirements, weather, and operational availability. As such, flypasts and displays may be subject to cancellation at short notice.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying.
