Flying training at RAAF Base Learmonth

A detachment from Air Force’s No. 2 Flying Training School (2FTS) will deploy to RAAF Base Learmonth to conduct flying training operations for Exercise Capricorn Sunset.

Up to 7 Pilatus PC-21 aircraft, and approximately 40 Australian Defence Force (ADF) and support personnel, will be conducting a higher than normal tempo of operations from RAAF Base Learmonth during this period.

The PC-21 Pilatus is used by 2FTS to train Pilots with operational conversion to different aircraft after graduation

Residents should note that flying is subject to change, including short notice cancellation due to variables such as air traffic control requirements, weather, and other aviation considerations.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying. Aircrew will aim to operate in a manner that minimises noise and disruption to the community when flying near residential areas.

Air Force appreciates the ongoing support from the Exmouth community.
