Three EA-18G Growler aircraft from No. 6 Squadron will conduct diversion training across NSW and Victorian alpine areas, as well as the Tasmanian coastline.

Diversion training is an essential element of routine training that provides aircrew with critical experience flying in areas other than military training zones, and helps to familiarise aircrew with a range of different airfields. No. 6 Squadron is based at RAAF Base Amberley, Queensland.

Media note

Media are asked to assist in informing local residents of increased aircraft noise.

Interviews are not available for this activity.

All flying activities are conducted within strict safety and operational guidelines.

Flying is subject to change, including short notice cancellation, due to variables such as weather, and operational availability.

Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying. Information on aircraft noise and current flying activities is available at www.defence.gov.au/aircraftnoise or by calling 1300 DEFENCE (1300 333 362).
